GI Bleed or Gastrointestinal bleeding, refers to any bleeding within the digestive tract from the mouth to the anus.

  • Most blood vomiting are due to ulcer in the duodenum and in some cases due to advanced liver diseases (Cirrhosis).
  • Bleeding from Duodenum can result in blood vomiting or passing of dark tarry coloured stool with reeling of head.
  • Patient experiencing blood vomiting needs to get admitted in a hospital for various endoscopic treatment to control the bleeding.
  • Bleeding from small intestine and colon known as Lower GI Bleed. The causes are haemorrhoid, colon cancer.
